Kemi to Helsinki
Ok so another day on a train, this time to Helsinki or as it will be forever known in our family, due to someone's weird sense of humour , Heavenfloaty. I blame the father.
We were on the top deck in quiet class, once we found the correct seats. Really, come on guys the carriage numbers should be at least 6 foot tall and plastered on the internal doors. This wasn't the only blooper for the day - hmm no wonder the beer was next to the coke in the buffet car - it was zero alcohol.
Other than that it was a lovely journey through forest, flowing rivers, and by numerous lakes. Figured out the Heavenfloaty tram relatively easy and following the instruction for our apartment we made it with no fuss in a heat wave with 11 degrees.
With a supermarket underneath the apartment it's good bye to hotel breakfasts until our last night in Europe. I was surprised to find that one does tire of the wide selection of breakfast provided. I mean back to yoghurt and fruit doesn't have the same excitement of having to choose form a wide and I mean a wide variety of cold cuts, pickles, yoghurt, cheese, fresh fruit and fruit juice, porridge, cereal, hot food, health shots -and because Neil couldn't drink his this morning I was feeling very healthy - coffee with cream, baked goods and the list goes on.
We also have to forage for our own dinner so tonight it was fresh bread, cheese, tomato and salami. So farewell to the lovely fish we have been enjoying the last few days.
While looking slightly confused in the supermarket a friendly Finnish person explained where to buy 'proper' alcohol as the stuff in the supermarket is up to a limited alcohol content. Not sure we looked that stressed - but perhaps. Also I believe a trade war with Australia in on the cards as Lindau was advertised as being Australian despite the label clearly stated that it was made in NZ by Lion Breweries - Yes I checked.
Apartment is nice and roomy and 3 loads of washing later it has meet our needs and it has a sauna, but more about them later.
So photo time peeps.
