A day trip to Koln

 Dear gentle traveler today we are off to Koln or Cologne because I wanted to check out the cathedral and see what else there is to see as I have only passed through on the train. To be honest the cathedral as pretty outstanding but the hop on hop off bus tour wasn't much chop which again the river cruise made up for - so I think that there is a message here for me.  There was one interesting bit on the bus tour when the poor driver ran into some road works and we had an unexpected stop. We did see a restaurant that had home made potato salad but by then we had to catch our return train,  so close but no cigar. We were travelling on a high speed ICE which required reservations. It was a five hour return trip, but another county visited and pin purchased and we do enjoy traveling along at 250kph. We were out late,  well late for us, back to Ghent around 8.30 pm and believe me there aren't a lot of restaurants open at  that hour on a Monday night or on a Monday in general. Even the pizza place close by was closed - you got that wrong Google, but we lucked in as the place we ended up at and thanks for squeezing us in at  9pm had the most delicious Pork Stew with hot apples - well worth it,

An Afternoon in Bergen - on the water

 Hello from the other side again, Given that Bergen would be a perfect place to own a boat we did the next best thing and borrowed one and went on a cruise around a fjord, then through a cutting into a lake. A lovely trip especially when the boat slows down and you can go up front for close ups and additional information. Proud of their wool industry. Pretty sure we saw a couple of whaling ships in port and there was whale on the menu at the restaurant. Not for me and an interesting juxtaposition as the tour company also offered whale watching. I suppose I should be worried if it offered catch your dinner trips. Food has been great, lovely fish and beer! Own foot bridge to the mainland The end of the line. A Morning in Bergen

 Hell0 from Bergen,  Our first morning here and we are off up the funicular. Lucky Neil spotted the ticket at the bottom or else I would've had us climbing to the first stop. We caught the funicular up and then meandered our way down.
