ABL - Luzern
Yes we are off to Luzern which was very pretty with not a few tourists around as independently of us there were 5 tour buses stopped by the lake. This journey took us North so we headed away from Lac Leman, our constant travelling companion to date, and into rural Switzerland where you could almost smell the milk for the chocolate coming in from the paddocks, yes there were cows too, an integral part of the process. Being spring it was interesting to see that one cut of hay had already been taken and it won't be long before the second - being the pastoralist I am. Chocolate and tourism could be said, from appearances, to be the main stay of the Swiss economy. Not having a Swiss bank account I can't comment any further. I think I have found my place in the world- no reference to the University of Otago marketing here, which is cruising along on a high sped train (195 kph at one point) people watching as I spied women leaning on balconies, men chatting over a back yard BBQ, and soccer practice / mid-week games to name a few of the activities spotted. So Luzern is on a lake and yes said travelling companion suggested that we do the one hour round trip on the lake so so much for ABL. A wee bit hazy, cloudy and cool but lovely. As it was cloudy we didn't go up the mountain, perhaps we need to add ABM, another bloody mountain, to the vernacular.
