Matterhorn and Zermatt revisited

 Dear gentle traveler the last time we were in this neck of the woods - December 2019 - January 2025 we were able to use our Euro rail passes on the Swiss scenic trains such as the Bernina and the Glacier express. You simply paid your seat reservation and your dining package. So who could say no to this and we did both. As the Glacier Express started in Zermatt so we headed there the night before this trip unaware of how lovely Zermatt was and what we could do there such as the Gornergrat cog wheel train up the mountains so we decided to come back to do this. It was rather steep but when the Matterhorn appeared through the clouds it was worth it. This time Zermatt was without a blanket of snow but still lovely. So there are four official languages - French, German, Italian, and Romansh and prior to Visp the train announcements were in French, then German and then English, however coming up to Visp I noticed that the order had changed and it was German first, then French and English last. It made me feel quite at home and a hankering for Kartoffelsalat.

An Afternoon in Bergen - on the water

 Hello from the other side again, Given that Bergen would be a perfect place to own a boat we did the next best thing and borrowed one and went on a cruise around a fjord, then through a cutting into a lake. A lovely trip especially when the boat slows down and you can go up front for close ups and additional information. Proud of their wool industry. Pretty sure we saw a couple of whaling ships in port and there was whale on the menu at the restaurant. Not for me and an interesting juxtaposition as the tour company also offered whale watching. I suppose I should be worried if it offered catch your dinner trips. Food has been great, lovely fish and beer! Own foot bridge to the mainland The end of the line. A Morning in Bergen

 Hell0 from Bergen,  Our first morning here and we are off up the funicular. Lucky Neil spotted the ticket at the bottom or else I would've had us climbing to the first stop. We caught the funicular up and then meandered our way down.
